The Georgian era in Britain is eponymous to the first British monarchs of the House of Hanover – George’s I to IV, who reigned from 1714 to 1830. The era is perhaps most recognised for the strong architectural style that emerged characterised by strict geometrical arrangements and classical motifs.
In terms of furniture and cabinet design these references manifested themselves in the tables, chairs and cabinets of the eras. George Bullock was a famous cabinet maker of the Georgian era and his design for intricately cast table bases was popular.
