You are viewing a fantastic silver bronze French art deco style lamp of the famous Biba. This is perhaps one of the most iconic deco works and somehow manages to encapsulate the whole aesthetic with it’s sleek minimalism and the representation of the 1920s version of the female ideal.

As a decorative piece it really looks the part in any setting and it goes without saying how much of a collectors piece this is. We bought this from a dealer in Les Puces flea market Paris and it is a recast from the original.

The piece stands in at nearly three feet tall (please see photo with 12 inch rule in for idea of scale). The lamp is wired and ready to go – it emits a lovely ambient glow and makes for a very atmostpheric piece.

Signed Poertzel Art Deco Bronze Aristocrats Borzoi Dogs Figurine

You are viewing a spectacular art deco bronze sculpture of a lady and two borzoi dogs. The piece is signed Poertzel on the base. Poertzel was born at Scheibe on 24th October 1876, he became one of the most prominent art deco sculptors and this, the ‘Aristocrats’ is one of his most famous works. This would be a later casting from the original with some age.

The scene somehow embodies the 1920s style aesthetic as the tall, elegant women with a Native American look takes the two borzoi hounds for a walk. The symmetry is wonderful as the sleek dogs somehow echo the lithe women, her dress fanning. The piece has been cast from different coloured bronze to dazzling affect and the patina is wonderful.

Fernando Preiss

Ferdiand Preiss es un sculpturist famoso alemán que estudió en París y trabaja en Berlín. Estudió con otro artista famoso art deco, Poertzel.

Preiss trabajado con marfil y utilizar este material en combinación con el bronce con gran efecto. Era famoso por los modelos de los niños y la forma femenina. Sus obras han PK en relieve el monograma en el bronce y esto muestra que la cifra fue producido por la firma de Preiss y Kassler.

ROLLS ROYCE FLYING LADY BRONZE HOOD FIGURINE

Charles Sykes war ein Bildhauer arbeitet von Anfang des 19. Jahrhunderts England, dessen berühmtestes Werk ist der “Spirit of Ecstasy”, wie auf der Motorhaube eines Rolls Royce Autos geschmückt. Auch bekannt als die “Flying Lady” in den Vereinigten Staaten. Skyes war ein Absolvent des Royal College of Arts und wurde von Claude Johnson in Auftrag gegeben, dann Geschäftsführer von Rolls Royce, das Stück auf den Geist und Grazie der großen Auto emobdy schaffen.

Dies ist sicherlich die schönste und wahrscheinlich das bekannteste Auto-Maskottchen in der Welt, hat sie die Heizkörper von Rolls-Royce Motor Cars seit 1911 geschmückt und verbarg eine verborgene Leidenschaft, da ist eine große Geschichte hinter ihr Schöpfung. Dieses wunderbare Maskottchen wurde nach einer Frau, die bezaubernde Schönheit hatte, Intellekt und Esprit – nicht aber der soziale Status, die ihr erlaubt, den Mann zu heiraten hätte modelliert, mit denen sie sich verliebt hatte.

Ferdinand Preiss

Ferdiand Preiss ist ein berühmter deutscher Bildhauer, der in Paris studierte und arbeitete in Berlin. Er studierte mit einem anderen berühmten Art-Deco-Künstlerin, Poertzel.

Preiss arbeitete mit Elfenbein und verwendet dieses Material in Kombination mit Bronze mit großer Wirkung. Er war berühmt für die Modelle der Kinder und der weiblichen Form. Seine Werke wurden dem Monogramm PK in der Bronze geprägt und dies zeigt, dass die Figur von der Firma Preiss und Kassler hergestellt wurde.

Demetre Chiparus Art Deco Bronzen

Demetre Chiparus ist vielleicht der bekannteste Exponent der Art-Deco-Figur in Bronze. Chiparus (1886-1947) war rumänisch-geboren, sondern arbeitete in Paris Bildhauerei theatralische Themen sowie Tänzer von der Bühne in eleganten Posen und Kostüme. In den 1920er Jahren wurde seine Arbeit durch ein Interesse an Ägypten beeinflusst, nach der Pharao Tutanchamun Grab ausgegraben wurde. Tänzer des russischen Balletts, Französisch Theater und frühen Filme gehörten zu seinen weiteren bemerkenswerten Themen und war gekennzeichnet durch einen langen, schlanken, stilisierte Aussehen. Er arbeitete vor allem mit der Etling Foundry in Paris.

Tatsächlich ist seine Studie über die weibliche Form war ein massiver Einfluss auf die 1920er Version des idealen weiblichen Form – alle geschmeidige Athletik, in zierlichen geschmückt, ägyptische inspirierten Kostüme, Teil Flapper Teil Charlston tanzen rechtzeitig Mädchen.
